Botanicals
Every monograph is graded, authored, reviewed and dated. The library grows as reviews complete.
Each botanical's documented tradition, published and sourced. The full monograph — evidence review, grade and safety — joins each page once its named reviewer signs.
The botanical illustrations on this site are drawn from the historical record — public-domain plates from Elizabeth Blackwell's A Curious Herbal (1737, Aloe vulgaris = Aloe vera), Curtis's Botanical Magazine No. 850 (1805, Kaempferia galanga), William Roscoe's Monandrian Plants (1828, Zingiber cassumunar), Köhler's Medizinal-Pflanzen (1887, Curcuma longa), Blanco's Flora de Filipinas (1880s ed.; Piper betle, Morinda citrifolia, and Psidium pyriferum — an accepted synonym of Psidium guajava), and a nineteenth-century plate of Melaleuca minor (= Melaleuca cajuputi), all via Wikimedia Commons.
